History of Grama Panchayat

History & Formation First Popular Committee (1953): Following the Travancore-Cochin Legislative Assembly Ordinance of 1953, the first democratically elected popular governing body came to power in Choornikkara Grama Panchayat. Unified Era of Edathala and Choornikkara: In the early days, the entire territories of modern-day Edathala and Choornikkara Panchayats were under the unified jurisdiction of Choornikkara Panchayat.
